Sophia - Mar. 2 ’04: El Lokal, Zürich (CH)

Review
I have never seen the El Local in Zurich that packed like on that night of the second of March 2004. Moving or breathing was impossible. With impatience I was standing in the smoky crowd listening to Leonard Cohen's dark songs. Then 21:21 sharp, like announced, Sophia appeared on this small stage, finally the show has started.
I was amazed that they have opened with "So Slow", one of the saddest songs on "Fixed Water"..... (At this stage I thought they will NOT play any songs from that breathtaking album, released back in 1996), but surprisingly they did..... Thrilling atmosphere surrounded the air, when "death came so slow".... lovely!!

It appeared that Robin and his Band- colleagues were in a very good mood, so was the crowd, and the magic has already been spread out from the very first minutes onwards..... Forgetting everything, and just enjoying the special Sophia-Atmosphere, that one has to experience more than once in his life.

Going to the repertoire of "Fixed Water", ""The infinite Circle" and of course "People are like seasons", they ended up after 80 minutes with the mighty incomparable "River Song"... it couldn't get any better then at that stage of the show. God-Machine-memories came up, I guess only a few people know what I mean.

The band left the stage, but I felt that there will be more.... and there WAS more..... After a few minutes only Robin came back with his guitar, and played the whole beauty of "The Death of a Salesman" (Again from my favourite Album "Fixed Water") and "Last night I had a dream". These moments were so powerful, and full of emotions, I simply could have gone on for more, and there was more.... It was Robin's wish that the audience could choose between "Is it any wonder" (Which again would have been from "Fixed Water) and "Another Trauma".

Measuring the applause among the audience, gave Robin the feeling that "Another Trauma" would be the last song of the set. We have heard enough sad, and morbid songs he said, and "Another Trauma" wouldn't be that hopeless... Well, I'm not that opinion, but that doesn't count here.

What can I say ? Thanks to Robin and his men, for one of the most beautiful and unforgettable concert-nights I have ever had in my life. Truly we hope that it will not take another 5 years until they come back to Zurich. There is nothing like a long walk on a rainy night!!!
Peace and out
